Known for her joyful energy and connection with the audience, vocalist Julie Mack (proud New Jersey native and former New Yorker) has been leading jazz groups and her Brazilian band Encantada at clubs, restaurants, festivals, and events in the Washington, DC area since 2008. Drawing on a background in choral music and musical theatre and a broad repertoire of standards—with an early boost from classes in ‘90s NYC with Holli Ross and Amy London–Julie developed her freelance jazz career in collaboration with amazing DC musicians and fell down the rabbit hole into the enchanting world of Brazilian music and dance. Past venues include the Jazz in the Garden Series at the historic Omni Shoreham Hotel; the Maryland Food, Wine & Jazz Festival; the Mid-Atlantic, Alexandria, and Takoma Park Jazz Festivals; Mr. Henry’s; Whynot Jazz (NYC); and Twins Jazz. Her CD, “The Sweetest Sounds,” highlights both jazz and Brazilian music. For more information, visit www.juliemacksings.com
