Love Songs and Heaux Tales
Simone | Wilson | Vaughan
It’s not always easy being drop dead gorgeous AND trans. Jae W.B. takes us on a roller coaster journey from childhood queerness to adult transition. Sit back and buckle up as you listen in about all the men that disappointed her along the way from Flower Boy, to Twin Flame, to her own Father. Lower the Key | Raise the Bar is a biographical retelling of finding your own voice and the trial by fire it takes to love yourself, let alone someone else. Through the American Songbook Jae revisits the music of iconic altos like Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, and Nancy Wilson as a vehicle for transition and self actualization. Just because you have to Lower the Key, does not mean you can’t Raise the Bar.
