Is it a dream? As lavender mists dissolve over dewy meadows, lilies of the valley sigh their perfumed sigh, carried by zephyrs into our simmering ecstasies. Slouching in his satin chariot seat, Apollon draws a languid finger across his banjo, letting loose an ancient chord of mysterious intent. But the robins know the tune, and so, my friend, do the rabbits.
To wit! And Les Chauds Lapins will be returning to Pangea, our favorite East Village cabaret with table service — drinks and dinner — where Les Chauds Lapins’ full band will be on hand to serenade you with classic French chansons from the early 20th century, and their expanding catalog of original chants de style ancien, full of swing rhythms, jazz accents and amorous perplexity.
We hope you will consider buying tickets in advance, and bring all your friends, loved ones, colleagues, your current fling and any interesting librarians, sailors or trapeze artists you might meet between now and then. Come early, if you can, to get a good table and get settled, have a glass or two, and we’ll serenade you at 7.
Les Chauds Lapins will be: Meg Reichardt – voice, guitar, ukulele
Kurt Hoffman – voice, clarinet, ukuele
Karen Waltuch – viola
Garo Yellin – cello
Jude Webre – upright bass
