On November 9, San Francisco Legendary Reed Master Noel Jewkes www.noeljewkesmusic.com will be making a rare New York appearance at Pangea in the East Village with his longtime musical partner, Kay Kostopoulos, www.blackolivejazz.com for their show, Misogyny and Other Miss Fits.
Lyrics from many jazz and blues tunes reflect less than ideal, (and in some cases, overly ideal) impressions of the female sex. With humor, mitigated by just the right amount of annoyance, we will have fun with these tunes as we traverse the landscape of “women in song”. The fantastic jazz tune, “Girl Talk” , Lyrics by Bobby Troup, Music by Neal Hefti, and Bacharach’s “Wives and Lovers” are just a few songs featured in our “misogyny” set.
“Beautiful voice with a wide range… Ms. Kostopoulos is equally skilled on ballads and uptempo material…Makes a strong case for being considered a major jazz singer“, Jazz Critic Scott Yanow
