Join Joseph Keckler and special guest Sylvia Black Halloween night for an intoxicating brew of haunted balladry, gothic opera and smoldering jazz noir.
Praised by the New York Times as a “major talent… who shatters the conventional boundaries,” Joseph Keckler is a writer, songwriter, and multifaceted creator who operates somewhere between art, opera and rock and roll, transforming vignettes of daily life into elaborate underworld voyages. His work has been presented by NPR Tiny Desk, Lincoln Center, Centre Pompidou, and many other venues. His debut essay/story collection, Dragon at the Edge of a Flat World was published by Turtle Point Press. He is currently working on new recordings and films and is under commission by The Metropolitan Museum of Art for a new performance with the MetLive program.
Sylvia Black is a multi-faceted musician and vocalist with lives as an award winning hit songwriter, international touring artist with acts such as Telepopmusik and currently plays bass in Maya Rudolph’s Prince cover band, Princess.
You may have heard her own haunting persona and voice on Netflix’s ‘Chilling Adventure of Sabrina’ with her take on the classic ‘I Put A Spell On You’.
