“I AM BLAIR: Queer Rock Revolution”
Join Blair and her all queer rock band Mishti and Alex Nolan for an hour-long journey through original queer, soul, and rock anthems, alongside electrifying classics by iconic women from the decades. Experience a powerful celebration of feminine strength, rebellion, and the undeniable impact of women in rock. It’s not just a show; it’s a declaration. “I AM BLAIR” — witness the raw power of rock.
Blair, the vibrant queer sensation hailing from the heart of Houston, Texas, sets the New York City performing arts scene ablaze with her dynamic presence. Rooted in a rich heritage of Mexican/Texan traditions and inspired by trailblazers like Janis Joplin, Odetta, and Carole Pope from Rough Trade- Blair’s musical artistry is a captivating force. As a skilled songwriter, band leader, mesmerizing vocalist, spirited dancer, and emotive storyteller, she crafts a melodic tapestry that intimately reflects her journey. Through her music, she fearlessly explores themes of queer identity, mixed-race experiences, and the myriad shades of life’s beauty.
MISHTI, a singer-songwriter-guitarist with the lyricism of Jeff Buckley and the badassness of Slash demands the ear of any listener with her fresh take on post-pop rock music. Continually shaped by idols Prince and Kate Bush, Mishti has carved out her own sound distinguished by vocals that soar to the rafters and guitar solos that break your heart. While finishing touches of her debut EP (produced by Alex Nolan) are fine-tuned, Mishti continues to write songs for the unrequited and fantasize the next performance: “I want to create music that transforms people’s moods the same way music I love transforms mine… and changes my life in those 3 minutes… and then ‘replay’.”
ALEX NOLAN has become a buzzing name amongst legendary artists and musicians as a versatile, trusted, and highly skilled guitarist and collaborator. Her over 20 years of recording and performance experience includes stints on national television as part of NBC’s The Meredith Vieira Show band (2014 – 2016), on stage as the lead guitar player for pop icon Cyndi Lauper (2016 – present), on Broadway as guitar chair for Jagged Little Pill (2020 – 2021) for which she performed on the Grammy-winning cast album in 2021, and currently as the guitar chair for MJ The Musical (2021 – present).
