After their Pangea success of The Flying Dutchman (no Wagner allowed) Hans Pieter and Brian are finally back in New York with a new show based on the life, travels and troubles of Charles Trenet (1913-2001) creator of songs like: Beyond The Sea and I Wish You Love. Jacques Brel once said: “without Trenet we would all be accountants!” In this one hour show you’ll learn all about Trenet’s life through examples of his own writings but also through the music of others whose work reflect on the comings and goings of this “Singing Fool”.
Why Trenet you ask? After Hans Pieter lost his hearing in 2004, he came back to singing in 2009. Following a prizewinning performance during the Alliance Française song competition in 2010, singing Que reste-t-il de nos amours? (I wish you love) by Charles Trenet, he always wanted to explore the life and works of this power house artist. Attending this show, you’ll be not only visiting PANGEA, THE CABARET CLUB of NEW YORK CITY but also Paris, pre-war Berlin, Brazil, Hollywood and pretty much everywhere in between.
