Enjoy a fast-paced evening with Fran Sisco, one of New York’s most popular and prolific transgender female creatives. Since her transition on 1/1/11 to full-time female, Fran has performed on many famous stages and with well-known entertainers, and has received awards and accolades in several fields. Fran, and a few guest performers, will give you a taste of her roller-coaster life through her (a) stand-up comedy and skits (b) songs such as original songs like “Happy Trans Girl Like Me” (helped by her daughter Kelly), collaborated funny songs like “Ain’t Giving Up My Braciole” (co-written with Leigh Harrison), heartfelt songs like “I Am Still the Same Inside” and her parodies such as “You Are Who You Are,” and (c) live performances of vignettes from her plays called “Once a Boy” (autobiographical true story) and DEI comedy play called “It’s an Italian Thing! No, It’s a Black Thing” and (d) excerpts from plays, films and books. Scenes from “Once a Boy” will include brief reenactments of (1) the first time she went outside in the sunshine as a cross-dressing 10-year old boy (2) at age 17 being brought by her misunderstanding father to a midtown NYC prostitute (3) how she was nearly killed in a violent hate crime and the silver lining and (4) the heart-to-heart poignant talk Fran and her wife had that led to a separation. Scenes from “It’s an Italian Thing! No, It’s a Black Thing” shed humorous light on Fran’s Italian-American roots and issues with prejudice and differences. You are sure to love the many creative and entertaining sides of Fran Sisco and be fully-engaged in the evening!
