Cabaret Room: Jackson Sturkey & The Big Turn On, 7:00pm

March 13 2022, 7:00 pm-8:30 pm

$20

Jackson Sturkey was supposed to do this show in 2020, but then the world ended. Suddenly stuck at home and not sure what to do he began to focus on songwriting like never before while waiting for NYC to turn back on. He’s been working on an original musical, cabaret numbers, rock and roll and jazz. Jackson Sturkey is one of the last of the good times Charlies and a regular denizen of the east village’s new art scene. He’s got an hour of original music to share with you, cause the world didn’t end…And NYC, in a big way, is back on.

“Jackson Sturkey is the real deal!!!” -Demetrius Music Productions LLC

“You’ll find yourself transported to a world that evokes after hours Broadway: where the public meets entertainers who have come to be entertained. Picture: the Jury Garland show in a bar in occupied Paris. Subversive. Raw. Emotional. Funny. Fun. Beautiful.” -Gregory Levine: Ten Foot Rat

Singer/Songwriter. Cabaret Performer. And Host extraordinaire. Jackson Sturkey is one of the last of the Good Time Charlies. He normally can be found at many haunts of the east village and is also a Perennial player of Frigid NYC, Liquid Family Dinner Cabaret, Ten foot rat Cabaret, and many more. His obsession with old Hollywood can be seen in his insta feed @outlatetonight. His most recent home has been Pangea. Part Tiny Tim, part dapper throwback, part emotional fire iron. Jackson produced the Variety show ‘Jackson Sturkey and his Orchestra’ through Frigid NYC, and has been an assistant producer on Runway the Realway for about 4 years, and has been hosting Cuckoos Open Mic at the Nest in Brooklyn. Jackson Sturkey is an ‘On Purpose’ artist who believes in New York and has written it and broadway a love song called “A Ghostlight for You” which is available on spotify or can be downloaded on Bandcamp. He is still in New York. He is still creating and hoping to continue the refuge that New York has been for him and so many others. “Art should bring more people to the table, and you have to be part of art that you feel makes the world a better place.”
