In The Audacious Years: 1978–1982, Iris Rose tells the roller coaster story of her years in a punk rock band, The Stingers, in Long Beach, California. She punctuates the narrative with her unique interpretations of songs by X, The Buzzcocks, Patti Smith, Talking Heads, and more.
With musical support from Christopher Berg on keyboard and piano and Mark Lerner on bass.
Iris Rose is a longtime resident of the East Village, where she performed, wrote, and directed many shows with the group Watchface in the 1980s (archived at watchface.nyc), and at the Pyramid Club, La MaMa, and PS 122, among many other venues. In 2008, she founded the short-lived Theater of the Grasshopper that presented offbeat shows for kids and adults. She is currently making various handmade items for her Etsy shops – Mackrelmint (for kids) and HADDOCKandROSES (for grown-ups) – and performing whenever the opportunity arises.
