Singer/ Songwriter Carol Lipnik returns to Pangea with Gordon Beeferman on piano in “Creatures of the Wind” on Friday, April 26th, at 7pm. The evening will feature re-imagined standards and new original songs on themes of transience, love, flight, and her quest to find beauty, humor, and catharsis amid the escalating chaos and disasters of today.
Carol Lipnik is acclaimed as one of New York’s most individualistic and virtuosic singers. Stephen Holden of The New York Times called her an “Ethereal vocal phenomenon.”. With her stunning four octave range, subtle wit and charismatic stage presence, her songs draw equally on 70s art-rock, theater music, Eastern mysticism, opera, and the decaying phantasmagoria of the Coney Island where she was born and raised. She has built a dedicated following through her popular performances at the East Village boîte Pangea, and Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater. Gordon Beeferman is a highly regarded NYC based composer, organist, and pianist. The New York Times called his music “Complex and daringly modern”.
