Song stylist Elena Bennett and clarinetist/ bandleader Joe Traina will present Songs of the 1920s on Wednesday evening December 21st at 9:30PM & on Friday evening December 30th at 7:00 at Pangea located at 178 Second Avenue at 11th Street in New York City.
Selections will include “Thou Swell” (A Connecticut Yankee, 1927), “April Showers” (Bombo, 1921), “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” (Blackbirds of 1928) & “Fascinating Rhythm” (Lady Be Good, 1924).
Elena Bennett has performed in countless venues both in the United States and abroad and specializes in creative renditions of classics of the American Popular Songbook. She has performed with Les Paul, Billy Stritch, Jason Robert Brown and many others.
Joe Traina has lead jazz bands of various sizes since 1990 and performed extensively throughout the New York-New Jersey Tri-State area at venues including the Rainbow Room, Tavern on the Green, Iridium and Sardi’s.
His recently released his fifth recording entitled “Tip of the Hat” to critical acclaim.
