Teri Roiger (voice & piano), John Menegon (bass), Steve Williams (drums)
Save the date for an enchanting evening on Saturday, January 25, featuring the remarkable vocalist Teri Roiger paying tribute to some of her influences including Shirley Horn, Billie Holiday, Abbey Lincoln, and Billy Strayhorn. Prepare to be transported by the mesmerizing blend of jazz and soul as she takes the stage both singing and playing the piano backed by a stellar rhythm section including John Menegon on bass (known for playing bass with Joe Lovano, Dewey Redman & David ‘Fathead’ Newman) and Steve Williams on drums (known for the 30+ years he spent as Shirley Horn’s drummer, helping to create that magical sound). Teri Roiger, a seasoned singer, composer, and educator, brings decades of experience to her performance. Whether recording her own albums, collaborating with renowned artists, or sharing her knowledge with aspiring musicians, Teri’s passion and expertise promise an unforgettable musical journey. Join us for a night of pure talent and soul-stirring melodies!
An American jazz musician, vocalist, pianist, songwriter, lyricist, educator, and producer, Teri’s first recording was made with the legendary stride pianist Butch Thompson, and since then she has recorded with Jack DeJohnette, Kenny Burrell, John Menegon, Frank Kimbrough, Gil Goldstein, Steve Williams, Matt Wilson, Pete Levin, Joel Frahm, Jay Collins, Nanny Assis, and many others. Her five albums as a bandleader have all met with critical acclaim, as have her performances at festivals and top New York jazz spots. Her recordings show her uncommon knowledge, appreciation, and deep love for the artistry of Billie Holiday, Abbey Lincoln, Billy Strayhorn, and Thelonious Monk. In 2013 her recording of Abbey Lincoln’s music was featured as one of the five best tribute releases in NYC Jazz Record. Teri & John’s first collaboration, MISTERIOSO, includes jazz legends Jack DeJohnette and Kenny Burrell, and Teri was given permission to publish her own lyrics to Monk’s iconic composition “Misterioso.” The recording was remixed and mastered in 2024 and is now available on vinyl only.

“Roiger is one of the great though unheralded vocal artists and lyricists of her generation, a living link to giants like Billie Holiday, Carmen McRae, Betty Carter and Abbey Lincoln.” Thomas Staudter (Music Journalist) 2023
“Teri is made for those who still understand the meaning of the term, the real thing.” — Stanley Crouch (Author & Cultural Critic)
“A vocalist who wraps (Abbey) Lincoln’s complex songs around her finger...” Marc Myers, JAZZWAX.COM, award-winning blog
