Bassist and composer Iris Ornig is one of the most original female voices on today’s New York Jazz scene. Since her arrival in NYC in 2003 from Germany, she has played with an impressive roster of some of the most influential contemporary jazz musicians in NY such as Joel Frahm, Mike Rodriguez, Sachal Vasandani and Helen Sung, just to name a few. Ornig has performed at jazz clubs and festivals all over the U.S., Europe and East Africa. Fore her debut at the Pangea Jazz Series, Iris will be doing a musical tribute to the late, great composer, Burt Bacharach which promises to be swinging, melodic, playful with plenty of twists and turns. Her band will be Ben Rosenblum on piano Jeremy Powell on sax, Dave Smith on trumpet and Rodrigo Recabarren on drums.
